Through his latest series on the people who played a vital role in the growth of Genge music, Pioneer Genge star, Juacali has posthumously shared his gratitude towards Big Kev for shaping his life.
Through a well crafted message on his social media network, Instagram and Facebook, Juacali revealed that his first ever radio interview in 2001 was on Big Kev’s show dubbed ‘African Fusion’ when the former had just dropped his first song, Ruka.
“I want to send a special shout-out to the late Big Kev of True Blaq,my 1st ever interview at @CapitalFmKenya was in his show,show ilikua on Sunday jioni called African fusion (I stand to be corrected) around 2001, I had just released my 1st single Ruka,” wrote Juacali
Gig Connections
The Mwoto sana rapper added that in 2006 when he was riding high with the song ‘Bidii Yangu’,Big Kev hooked him up with a well paying gig.
It involved going around the country sensitizing youths not only on the importance of acquisition of Identification cards(IDs) but also on the need of voting.
According to Juacali,Big Kev also advised him to spend wisely what he had earned from the assignment with Juacali buying his first car.

Naeza kumbuka Kev akiniambia ‘buda make sure umefanya kitu ya maana na hii ganji’ na hivyo ndio vile nilibuy dinga yangu ya kwanza Toyota Sprinter KAE(siezi sahau) after the tour was over.

No Apologies For Success
Juacali went further and noted that Big Kev was a true friend with a big heart whose wise counsel came in handy.
When success started knocking on Calif record’s door, there were people hating on them and Kev advised them not to be apologetic for their success.
It did not end there,Kev would again link Juacali to a well paying endorsement courtesy of Guinness.

Big Kev(Kevin Ombajo) the founder of True Blaq Events rested in July 29th 2017 after a five year battle with brain tumor.
He had undergone a series of surgeries which led to the loss of his eyesight in 2016.
