The official use of Huduma number cards will begin in December next year.

ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru says that the new document will replace the current National ID cards and will be used to transact all business with government.

Mucheru was speaking during the launch of a phased nationwide roll out of the cards in Machakos while his counterpart of Interior Ministry Dr. Fred Matiang’i was in Kiambu.

Kenyans who registered for the cards will receive short messages notifying them of when and where to pick the cards.

” You have one year to get the Card and within the year the private businesses, the government will be ready to ensure that we receive your Huduma cards and give you the services,” said Mucheru.

“Make sure if you receive your SMS you go collect your Huduma Namba from the designated centres and it will take one month for you to do so,” said Mucheru.
