Hundreds Flock KICC For A Moment With FIFA World Cup Trophy

Hundreds of Kenyans turned up at the KICC on Friday to view the FIFA World Cup trophy that landed in Kenya on Thursday.

The World Cup trophy tour made a stop in Kenya and was received by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House.

Those who turned up for the viewing stated that they hoped to get an up close view with the trophy and also take personal photos.

 “We are standing in line very eager to see the FIFA World Cup trophy. Even though the line is moving very slowly we look forward to taking photos with it,” said Sameer as he stood in line.

The Kenyan tour is set to conclude on the 27th of May. The trophy will reportedly then head to Tanzania thereafter to be received by the head of state.


The FIFA World Cup trophy tour began with a first-stop event in Dubai, where former World Cup winners Iker Casillits and Kaká who came together to give the trophy a sendoff on its way around the world.

Even though the Kenyan National team Harambee Stars will not be participating in the FIFA 2022 World Cup, Kenyans are still eager to view the games and root for their respective teams.

“We only wish the Harambee Stars were playing this year but even so we are rooting for different international teams and hope to take the trophy this year,” said Simiyu, a resident of Nairobi.
