Hundreds Left Homeless As Fire Burns Down Over 100 Houses


More than 120 houses in Nairobi’s Blue estate were razed down in a fire incident in Blue Estate slums in Shauri Moyo area.

The fire reportedly started at around 12 noon burnt down the mabati structures leaving hundreds of people homeless.

Victims of the fire say that they were not able to salvage any property from the fire.

“The fire started at around 12 noon and quickly spread into the houses. No one has been able to save any property,” said the victim.

The victim says that fire fighters arrived in the area but ran out of water.

“The fire fighters were here on time. They have tried to fight the fire but unfortunately they are unable to contain the fire since they have run out of water,” she said.

No one was injured in the fire incident. The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
