Hawkers in Eastleigh on Tuesday stormed City hall protesting and to demand audience with governor saying they are being harassed by city inspectorate officials manning Eastleigh.
The hawkers say the county askaris removed them from Eastleigh market popularly known as chokora while others were forcefully whisked from 4th and 5th streets contrary to earlier directive by governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
‘‘These kanjos through their commander Steven Waweru have been harassing us ,our goods were confiscated even if you pay fine they don’t return them, we are tired with these people,’’ one of the Hawkers told got Radio News.
After sometime their chairman Samuel Muraguri and few others were granted an opportunity to have audience with governor Sonko who promised to address the matter.
‘‘We have talked and we are happy with his promise but we have been told to go back to the market but our plea is that Waweru the inspectorate commander should leave this place ,’’ Muraguri Said.
They are also accusing him of colluding with shop owners and other wholesalers to frustrate them .
Meanwhile our efforts to speak to Waweru the Eastleigh Inspectorate Commander still remain futile .
