Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has told ODM party leader Raila Odinga that he is ready to face him in the ODM party primaries.
Addressing members of the public in Nyali sub-county on Thursday, Joho said that he believes in ODM party democracy and he will be contesting for the party presidential ticket ahead of the 2022 election.
“I heard Raila in Kilifi saying that he will contest for the ODM party ticket, I want to tell you I have already submitted my application and waiting for the party primaries,” said Joho.
Governor Joho further said that he has worked closely with Raila Odinga and if he will win against him he believes Odinga will support him.
Raila called upon all candidates willing to vie for the seats in the ODM party to submit their papers ahead of party primaries.
“Joho has worked as MP and governor and he will now contest for the party ticket as ODM. We want all aspirants and party members will decide,” said Odinga.
Joho also further called on Mombasa County to support BBI saying it will increase county revenue to sh.12bn from the current seven billion.
