A man who stabbed his girlfriend to death at a chicken eatery in Kitengela, Kajiado County says he did so because he loved her.
Patrick Munyoki in a police statement stated that his love turned into anger after he found out that his girlfriend Gertrude Wayua Mutiso was allegedly cheating on him.
Munyoki in a statement stated that what angered him so much was the fact that his girlfriend cheated on him with one of their managers at work.
“This is a woman I loved so much. I was just bitter that she decided to hurt me right at our place of work,” he told police.
Suspect threatened deceased in the past
“He told detectives investigating the matter that he was angry with Ms Wayua because she was dating one of her bosses,” said a detective privy to the ongoing investigations told a local publication.
The officer further said it had emerged that the police had been made aware that Munyoki had threatened the deceased in the past but she never reported the matter to the police and simply sacked him.
It emerged that Munyoki and Ms Wayua had started their relationship while they were at Kimathi University in Nyeri County.
The suspect further told the officers that he was still pained but regretted his actions as the lady he loved so much was no more.
It is worth noting that Munyoki made the move when he was off duty.
