I Promise To Overhaul The Sports Sector If Elected – Ken Oliech

Dagoretti South parliamentary seat aspirant Ken Oliech envisions changing matters in the sports sector if elected in the upcoming general elections.

Speaking to Ghetto Radio News, Oliech who was a former player of Gor Mahia says that he feels like the peolpe who are currently in leadership have neglected the sports sector and in return demotivated young sportspersons.

“The present leaders have not put their concentration in sports, especially football and this has led to loss of interest in sports amongst young people,”he says.

According to Oliech, his decision to vie as a Member of Parliament was pushed by his belief of being the change that is needed in sports.

The parliamentary seat hopeful, feels that through his leadership change will be witnessed in some of the laws governing sports bodies in the country since he understands the needs of sportspersons better having being one of them.

“Things will be better once people like me get in leadership that will make sportspersons view sports as their main jobs and their main sources of income,” says Oliech adding that for a long time people venturing in different sports have been forced to do other jobs and not to focus on sports as their main career due to the low pay cuts they receive from it.

Having not been successful after vying for a position in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF),Oliech who has also worked in sports management in Germany after quitting football says that he saw it fit to fully strategize before coming back home to vie for a parliamentary seat and work with stakeholders to draft new laws that will make operations in the sports sector smooth.
