IEBC Suspends Elections Of Four Elective Seats

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has suspended the governor elections for Kakamega and Mombasa Counties.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati says that the parliamentary election of Pokot South and Kacheliba constituencies have also been suspended.

This follows a number of errors on the images and names on the various ballot papers for the elective seats.

“Ballot papers for Mombasa governor position have wrong gubernatorial candidates’ pictures and their images printed on them,” Chebukati said.

“Ballot papers for Kacheliba constituency have wrong member of National Assembly candidates’ pictures and their images printed on them,” he added.

Chebukati says that the dates of the elections for the suspended seats will be announced through a gazette notice.

“The printer has acknowledged the errors and will shoulder the costs of printing the ballot papers,” said Chebukati.
