iebcThe Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has warned that the commission might face challenges in the planning of the next election following the dismal allocation of funds by the treasury.

IEBC CEO Ezrah Chiloba says the 500 million shillings budget provided by the treasury for voter registration exercise is insufficient and cannot meet their target.

Meanwhile Chiloba has maintained that the current commissioners are still in a position to hold their offices till end of 2017 despite ombudsman questioning their office tenure.

He argues that the process of hiring new commissioners is long and it may tamper with current operation of IEBC ahead of 2017 elections.
