I’m ready to take over as Mombasa governor, says DG Kingi
Mombasa Deputy Governor William Kingi who has remained silent on succession politics in Mombasa has now come out to speak about his 2022 ambitions.
In an interview, Kingi said that he is ready to work for Mombasa people if chosen as the governor in 2022.
“I’m working closely with my Governor Ali Hassan Joho and I must appreciate Joho for having chosen me as his Deputy Governor. The position has enabled me to use my capacity to work for the people of Mombasa,” said Kingi.
Kingi further said that for the last three years, Governor Joho and he have implemented several developments in the County.
“Despite delays by the National government to send revenue to the counties, we have managed to pay our employees on time, we managed to close the Kibarani dumping site and also improved services at Coast General hospital,” said Kingi.
“We have worked closely with the national government to ensure that we avert the spread of COVID-19 in the county,” he added.
Despite facing many challenges, Kingi says that he is ready to take over the reins from Governor Joho in 2022, to continue with the work being done in the county
He also agreed that they have faced several challenges in the county but insisted that everything has the right time.
“For now am working, a leader is chosen by the people and if Mombasa residents choose me as their leader, am ready to work for them as the Governor in 2022,” said Kingi.
