Five International Players Ruled out of weekend fixtures

Paul Were to miss out on the International Friendlies

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has confirmed that five players have been ruled out of the upcoming International friendlies.

The squad has been reduced to seven as Coach Stanley Okumbi had initially called up 12 players to camp for Harambee Stars fixture against Mozambique scheduled for this Saturday, November 12, 2016.

Ayub Timbe, Allan Wanga, Musa Mohammed, David Ochieng, and Paul Were will miss out of the weekend fixture.

“Timbe is out injured and as such is not available for selection on Saturday, while we have allowed Were and Ochieng to honor upcoming club assignments, on their club’s requests,” said Harambee Stars First Coach Stanley Okumbi.

Okumbi “Wanga has not reported to camp, but has since requested that, he sits out the upcoming fixture due to personal engagements, while Musa was released yesterday after it became apparent that his passport would not be ready before Saturday,” concluded the coach.

Meanwhile, Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama has already landed in the county ahead of the two fixtures, while Zesco United trio of Jesse Were, Antony Akumu and David Owino are expected to link up with the team tomorrow, following requests from the club that the three be allowed to honour a mid-week fixture scheduled for today.

Harambee Stars take on Mozambique and Liberia, on Saturday, November 12, and Tuesday, November 15, respectively.

Both matches will be played at the Kasarani Stadium beginning 4pm, with charges for the same being Ksh 200 per match, all-round, free sitting.
