The Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) has launched investigations in the alleged killing of a young man yesterday in Kasarani.
The young man was reportedly shot dead by the police during a demonstration in Kasarani on Wednesday.
The boy’s friends say that the young man was a hawker who was just about to open his new business of selling smokies.
“We were trying to help him up on his feet, and even at the material time of his death he was on his way to pick up a jiko for his new business, ” narrated a friend.
Carol Muinge from IPOA says that they are headed to the ground to establish the facts of the killings before they take action.
Muinge has also called on the family to get in touch with IPOA and give details of the victim.
“We need the family to get in touch with us and give us the details of the victim, his name in order for us to authenticate the claims,” said Muinge.
The Kasarani matatu operators strike started on Monday with Wednesday being the climax of the protests that saw anti riot police officers deployed in the area.
