The attendance of President Ruto in PS Raymond Omollo’s homecoming and inauguration fete of Interior has triggered speculations of him being prepared for bigger role in Nyanza politics.
Omollo surprised many when top government officials including the president himself presided over his homecoming ceremony in Karachuonyo in Homa bay County.
Ruto described Omollo as a hardworking state officer who is committed to his role rallying the residents to give him the support.
This is not the first time Omollo is hosting Ruto in Homa Bay County which considered as one of Raila Odinga’s home-turf.
“I must thank you for your son Raymond but I must also state that politics is not driven by protest it is matter of policies to all Kenyans we want to assure you of maximum security. We shall mobilize resources to ensure we protect properties of Kenyans.” Ruto said.
PS Omollo Remarks
Omollo described Ruto as a trusted leader whom once promises something he delivers.
“There is only one politician that I know in this country who if he tells you he is going to do something for you, you can go home and sleep soundly. You wake up the following day and he will do exactly as you discussed and agreed. That person is the President,” Omollo said.PS Raymond Omollo 15th July,2023
Omollo said he first met Ruto in 2018 when he had a personal request to make to the then Deputy President.
Other leaders who accompanied tghe presidents includes deputy president Rigathi Gachagua CS Interior Kithure Kindiki among others.
Raymond Omollo’s Biography
Not known to many, Omollo has been tested on responsibilities above expectations and seems to excel up the ladder. His net worth stands at Kshs.450M before being appointed as PS.
Raymond was born on 27th December in 1979 in Kanyipir location, Rachuonyo subcounty in Homa Bay county.
He is the current permanent secretary in the ministry of Interior and Cordination of internal security led by the best performing Cabinet Secretary according to TIFA research Kithure Kindiki.
He must have attended the local primary school and secondary school; Oriwo boys where the event was held, and a bus donated to the school in his honor.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from the University of Nairobi and a diploma in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from the University of Washington.
He holds a master’s degree in biometry from the University of Nairobi and in 2015 earned a doctorate in applied statistics from Maseno University.
Dr. Omollo has worked as a data manager at the University of Namibia, successfully becoming the Head of the Data Centre and Statistician at the Data for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi) until 2019.
He was appointed Managing Director of the Lake Basin Development Authority in charge of socioeconomic development of the Lake Victoria basin region.
As a consultant, he has served World Health Organization (WHO), the Africa Medical Research Foundation (AMREF), Hoffman La Roche, and I-TECH.
He was a Non-Executive Board Member of Consolidated Bank of Kenya and chaired the risk and credit and the finance committees.
