Is Speaker Justin Muturi, Raila’s running mate?

By Julius Owino

Today in Parliament, Uriri MP Hon. Nyamita Mark Ogolla congratulated Speaker Hon. Justin Muturi on his coronation as Mt. Kenya East Spokesperson.

He recalled his wisdom as Siakago MP and his visit at a fundraiser at a local church in Uriri constituency saying he is a man who keeps his word.

He (Nyamita) confidently like a man who knew ‘something’, welcomed him as the next Deputy President, deputising Hon. Raila Odinga.

Hon. Tim Wanyonyi, Westlands MP and executive ODM member confirmed Raila’s well wishes and promised that they will work well as a team.

He noted how difficult it has been to lead the house and that he has shown leadership skills and abilities.

Majority Leader Hon (Dr.) Amos Kimunya, MP Kipipiri noted it was not an easy to have such a recognition adding that Mt. Kenya region leadership seems vacant and Mt Kenya East have woken up and are ready to lead moving forward.

He urged him to give the region direction on the BBI noting that there is nothing as bad as a region divided and that he should take the initiative to unify the mountain and eventually Kenya.

Hon. Moses Kuria MP Gatundu South, in his usual outspoken and controversial nature at an earlier church gathering rubbished Muturi’s coronation as the region’s spokesperson claiming that the region and country have come of age and such endorsements are of the past.

Kuria said Mt. Kenya will decide on the ballot and that the region is not decided on who to follow or elect.

Justin Muturi has notably been a Principal Magistrate from 1982 to 1997, Siakago MP from 1999 to 2007 and currently the seventh speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya.

The Njuri Ncheke seems to have searched well.
