It’s all systems go as the count down to this year’s census narrows down. According to the acting Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani everything is in place as they embark on the important exercise. He added that all the needed resources have been disbursed including finances. The exercise is expected to take approximately seven days.
“All the available resources have been disbursed to the counties and I now urge all Kenyans to consider this exercise like any other patriotic duty and cooperate with the census personnel.” he said.
The Cabinet Secretary is on record that this year’s exercise will be unique in that apart from the personnel, other resources to be used such as the mobile kits and software programme have been developed by varsities in Kenya.
On the same note, Interior CS Fred Matiangi has urged Kenyans to cooperate with the census officials while assuring the general public that security will be facilitated and that as government they’re sorry for the inconvenience that will come with the census exercise.
“You will be happy to enjoy your company and social drink and everything else until 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, Just this once and for us in the security sector our responsibility is to facilitate this exercise.” he said.
On the other hand ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru was quick to assure Kenyans the data to be collected will be safely and securely stored for government use.
