Journalist Jacque Maribe and Joseph alias ‘Jowie’ Irungu who are both facing murder charges will be back in court next week to continue the hearing for the murder of Monica Kimani, a 28-year-old businesswoman who was found dead in a bathtub with her neck slit.
“The case was scheduled for hearing from 17th to 19th March 2020 but was taken out following directions for scaling down of court activities by the Chief Justice following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions.
According to the ODPP, the Monica Kimani murder case will continue before a new court on the 21st and 28th April and 5th May 2021 after the judge hearing the matter, Justice James Wakiaga, disqualified himself after he was transferred to the Anti-Corruption division.
Also scheduled for next week is the murder case against City Lawyer Assa Nyakundi who is facing murder charges for allegedly killing his 29-year-old son Joseph Bogonko.
“Plea has not been taken due to numerous applications by the defense counsel both in the lower and in the High Court causing a delay,” said the ODPP.

The murder case of Tob Cohen against Sarah Kamotho and Peter Karanja will be mentioned on 20th May 2021.
Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his co-accused Michael Juma Oyamo and Capser Ojwang Obiero, all accused of killing Rongo University student Sharon Otieno will be back in court for the hearing which is scheduled to proceed from 5th to 15th July 2021.
The case against Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino will be mentioned on 28th April 2021. The legislator is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly shooting DJ Evolve. He is also facing ‘behaving disorderly while carrying a firearm’ charges.
