Jamaica is set to play host to the first ever reggae event with Hip Hop’s founding DJ Kool Herc.

The celebrations will be part of  marking Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary with a mega concert set for December.

According to reliable sources, DJ Kool Herc and his sister Cindy Campbell will lead the celebrations.

Jamaica is their  country of origin and birth place and hosting the show there is not only symbolic but also a blessing in celebration of 50 iconic years of Hip Hop.

The day will see some of the biggest names in Hip Hop entertain fans.

It will be a two day event running from December 29 and 30 at Plantation Cove in St. Ann.

DJ Kool Herc is attributed with inventing the turn table deejaying while playing during a back-to-school party.

The celebrated disc jockey was raise funds for his sister’s schooling.

This dates back to the 1973 party held at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx.

The vent will further honor Jamaica’s contribution to the growth of Hip Hop as a dominant genre in the world.

It will be also a special celebration for Kool Herc and Missy Elliot for being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Class of 2023 for their immense contribution to the Hip Hop culture.

Order Of Distinction

DJ Kool Herc was one of the recipients at the recently concluded National Heroes Awards where he was feted with the Order Of Distinction Commander Class(CD) for his exceptional contribution to the growth of Jamaica’s music and culture.
