EXPRESS-JAMIE REDKNAPP has hit out at Jose Mourinho publicly shaming Luke Shaw.
The Portuguese boss suffered his third consecutive defeat as Manchester United lost 3-1 to Watford at Vicarage Road yesterday.
Mourinho suggested his side didn’t receive much luck and was left frustrated with referee Michael Oliver over a decision not to blow up for a foul on Anthony Martial for the home side’s opener.
And the 53-year-old also vented his annoyance at Shaw’s defending for Watford’s second.
Shaw has only recently returned to action after spending the majority of last season out with a broken leg – and Redknapp believes Mourinho has been too harsh on the England international.
“After three defeats in a row the cracks are beginning to show,” he wrote in his column for the Daily Mail.
“He keeps changing his team around and it looks like he doesn’t have a clue what his best XI is.
“Then there’s Mourinho’s comments about Luke Shaw, claiming publicly that he’s not learning from his mistakes.
“Well, of course he’s going to make mistakes — he was out of the game for a year, and to be dug out by his manager afterwards is the last thing the 21-year-old needs.
“You never saw Sir Alex Ferguson doing this, and it’s exactly the sort of thing United fans were afraid would happen when Mourinho was appointed.
“He needs to learn from his past experiences and show the fans he is the manager to turn them back into Premier League title challengers.”
