Mombasa governor Hassan Joho has distanced himself with narcotic drug trade allegations, saying the war launched by the government on illicit drugs is politically instigated.
According to Joho county government has been involved in the fight yet it funds so many projects including rehabilitation centers for youth addicted to drugs.
He slammed the government for targeting him politically and at some point advised government officials to ask their family, where they buy illicit drugs before fighting it nationally.
Last month coast security coordinator Nelson Marwa confirmed that the police were investigating governor joho, his close relative Ibrahim Khatri and other associates.
Joho’s remarks come a few days after Deputy President put drug lords in Mombasa on notice over the drug business.
Ruto has further warned police officers working with the drug cartels that they risk deportation like the Akashas.
