Ugandan singer Jose Chameleone has announced his intention to vie for a political seat, in the 2021 Uganda general elections.
Speaking during the launch of his latest club, DNA, Chameleone revealed that he will be vying for Kampala’s mayoral seat.
“I have been a leader all my life and it won’t be a challenge for me to lead the people of Kampala as their Lord Mayor. I have all it takes to become Kampala mayor in the next general elections and put him Kampala city to its standards,” he said
Chameleone maintains that he had no plans to vie for any political seat, but the people of Kampala have been putting pressure on him to take the city leadership.
“I did not have the idea but it came from the people of Kampala themselves. They say I’m the right person for the job and so why not,” he added
Chameleone will join a wave of artistes like Kenya’s Jaguar, Tanzania’s Professor Jay and Uganda’s Bobby Wine who have since joined politics across East Africa.
