jurgenThe German began talks with the club early in July, and put pen to paper on a new six-year deal on Friday.Klopp’s previous contract had two years remaining, with the option of extending by a further year, but owners Fenway Sports Group were keen to secure his long-term future this summer.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager will now remain with the club until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.Klopp’s assistants, Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz, have also signed similar deals, ensuring the 49-year-old’s famous backroom setup remains intact throughout his tenure.

Having led Liverpool to two cup finals in 2015/16, reaching showpiece clashes in the League Cup and Europa League, Klopp can now look to build for sustainable success on Merseyside. Speaking on signing his new deal, Klopp insisted that “there is much to do and much to achieve” in his time at Anfield.

“It’s hard to express in words how honoured myself, Zeljko and Peter feel by the commitment shown in us by the ownership and the club in general,” he said.

“We are very much at the beginning of our journey, but to already have the connection we have with this very special place is incredible.

“I am the first to recognise that with this great commitment comes a great responsibility.

“All of our coaching careers we have looked to make teams and clubs better, with the ultimate goal of making the supporters proud and happy.”

Klopp continued to explain he was looking to build “the most completely together group anywhere in the world,” before concluding that “by being together at all times, we will be stronger, better and our successes sweeter.”

The German continues his spell as Liverpool manager with a friendly clash with Tranmere Rovers on Friday night, the first of the Reds’ pre-season fixtures.

This deal underlines the commitment of both Klopp to the club, and FSG to their manager, and supporters can hope this is a sign of success to come in the near future.
