2016 commenced on a sound note for a 27-year old woman from Kakamega County after betting firm on Wednesday January 6 revealed Elimah Khanaitsa as the new millionaire in town.

Khanaitsa who is a proud mother of two predicted 13 out of 13 jackpot matches to perfection to become synonymous with betting history as the first woman to win the jackpot as she walks home with Ksh 22,049,424.

Speaking at a hotel in Nairobi where she was accompanied by her husband Ezekiel Besa for the cheque presentation ceremony, Khanaitsa said she started betting two months ago after being introduced by her workmate who is a driver in her workplace and she has not stopped since then.

“I am speechless, I did not believe when they called me but now it is beyond doubt,” Khanaitsa, who works as a sales lady at their tea company where her husband is the director.

After trying the jackpot bet on several occasions, lady luck smiled  at her during her fifth attempt where she had sent her predictions twice not knowing her relentless efforts would be knocking at the fortune door.

“I was so happy when Sportpesa called me. I was excited and when my husband came home in the evening I told him the news and he could not believe because he was not aware that I participated in betting because if he did, I would have been in deep trouble,” Khanaitsa sent the room in laughter after revealing that her husband was strict on matters of gambling.

A staunch supporter of local Sportpesa Premier League (SPL) side AFC Leopards and Arsenal in the EPL, Khanaitsa said that she did not necessarily do intense research on the matches but strongly depended on her instincts as well as weighing of the teams playing.

On what she plans to do with the fortune, Khanaitsa said she will first take time to relax and will decide her next move later on after allowing the biggest win in her life sink in.
