A group of Kalenjin youth yesterday performed a ritual in Eldoret town ahead of the Jubilee Party nominations slated for tomorrow.
The hundreds of youth who were led by Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago and Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter yesterday sang the Kiyanda song on a bent posture.
The”kiyanda” is an oath. Sang on special occasions to commit to a communal undertaking.
Reports on the ground state that the youth were passing a message to Deputy President William Ruto and the entire Keiyo people in Uasin Gishu following the battle between incumbent Mandago and businessman Buzeki Bundotich.
A section of people have however associated the ritual performance to a war crying, a situation that has sparked tension in Eldoret town.
