Kamukunji residents urged to embrace unity to fight radicalization


Kamukunji Deputy County Commissioner Samuel Kariuki has called on the area residents to embrace peace and togetherness saying its the only way to shun insecurity in the area.

Addressing residents during the celebration of World Peace Day  in Pumwani Majengo, Kariuki  describes the area as volatile making insecurity a major factor that should be dealt with.

He applauded the ccommunity for the major steps they have gained in eradicating  religion extremism and radicalization in the area.

‘‘Our youths we must understand that we can achieve nothing without peace it’s important to  be our brothers  keeper so that we eradicate fully the issue of extremism and radicalization  in this area,’’ Kariuki said.

Meanwhile Eastleigh Community Residents Association  Secretary General David Odhiambo has asked youths to embrace hardwork to shun extremism and radicalisation.

‘‘Basically our main message to the young generation is that we must totally eradicate  tribalism,religious segregation and extremism if we do this then we shall prosper,’’ he added.

Their theme in  this year’s celebrations is ‘Rieng Ya Kamu ni ku-shape Peace’
