KANCO calls for enactment of law making immunization of children mandatory

By Arnold Olando

Non Governmental Organizations are calling for the enactment of a law that will make immunization mandatory for every child.

This is after a 2018 report by the NGOs under the umbrella KANCo revealed that over 270,000 children across the country have not been given immunization hence exposing their lives to life threatening diseases like measles, polio and rubella.

KANCO Director Allan Rage says some 14 counties majorly in the Rift Valley Region have contributed to two thirds of the number of children who have not been immunized.

Allan Rage director of KANCO says Garissa has however improved from having 54 percent immunized children to having 84 percent immunized children.

Karen Awino from Nyanza region has cited lack of fare to the immunization centers as the reason why her two children who are both seven years and six years old have never been immunized.

KANCO held an immunization clinic today in Dagoretti South Constituency.
