US rapper and entrepreneur Kanye West is set to break the record for the most expensive trainers ever sold for his own brand pair of trainers scheduled for auction.

The ‘Jesus Walks’ rapper joined the ‘Billionaire Club’ through the sale of his Yeezy footwear and cloth line.

He is seen to earn even more as his first ever trainers are to be auctioned at $1 Million.

According to the London based auction house-Sotheby’s, the size 12s of the Yeezy which were Kanye’s prototype might break the record as the most expensive ever.

The record is currently held by Michael Jordan’s 1985 Air Jordan 1 which sold at a record breaking £408,000 last year.

The rapper turned Politician who unsuccessfully vied for the US presidency in the last elections, is also embroiled in a divorce case from his wife, media personality Kim Kardashian.

He reportedly will not channel the proceeds from the sale of his iconic trainers towards the divorce as the auction is being handled by renowned collector Ryan Chang.

However, Kanye’s name is expected to drive the sales of the Yeezy original.

The rapper first donned a sample of the Nike made shoes during the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008, and performed ‘Hey Mama’ and ‘Stronger’.

Fan’s tried to find out what he was wearing and he later returned them to Nike’s “Innovation Kitchen ‘lab in Oregon that made his Yeezy footwear a top secret.

He later ditched Nike and partnered with Adidas, a treaty that runs to date.

” The Nike Air Yeezy I and Air Yeezy II are still some of the most coveted sneakers by collectors,” wrote the auction house Sotheby’s.

“Debuted on – stage at the Grammys in 2008, the sneakers set off waves in the sneaker community as people wanted to identify the mysterious pair”Added Brahm Wachter, Head of the Auction House.

An exhibition is slated at Hong Kong Convention Center from April 16th to 21st.

The buyer will be kept secret unless he wishes his identity revealed.
