Kariobangi Politicians On The Spot Over Noisy Night Campaigns

Kariobangi North residents are raising concerns over noise being made by politicians campaigning in the area at night.

The residents claim that the activities of the politicians have nights in the area unbearable and disorderly.

Mike Okoth from Darfur says they are going through sleepless nights as the politicians move around hooting and mobilizing supporters in residential areas.

“We are tired of the noise you can imagine as late as 12.00 am campaign vehicles are still hooting with loud speakers…I mean it is unethical, disturbing and the relevant authorities should take charge and bring back sanity. Our children can no longer do their studies at night in peace,’’ Okoth said.

They have also called on Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to regulate campaigns saying that other aspirants are infringing on other citizens right when conducting their night campaigns.

‘‘I think the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission should come with modalities on how they can regulate thsese campaigns because in their code of conduct they agreed with aspirants to do peaceful campaigns. When we cannot sleep at night our security is also compromised then at that point the commission is to be blamed,’’ Okoth added.

Affected areas are Darfur, Down Town and some parts of Hilstone.
