Kariobangi Tenants sound alarm over hiked rental fees

Tenants of Amahoya Building in Kariobangi south area are complaining over excess charges posed  on them by their landlords whenever they delay to pay rent.

The tenants claim that the landlord drastically raised rental fees from 8,000 shillings to 13,000 shillings without notice.

Warren Odhiambo a tenant in the area says those who had delayed to pay rent after the shock on the increment found their houses locked with a penalty slapped on them.

“The rents were eight thousand when we moved in but now it has increased to thirteen thousand with a penalty of twelve present whenever we delay”said Odhiambo.

They also accused the landlord of failing to ensure proper supply of essential services like water and electricity despite them paying monthly fees.
