Kayole Asubuhi, Kiambiu Youth and Shauri Moyo Blue Stars victorious at the SPS8 Premier League ‘Super Sunday’
Kayole Asubuhi displaced Metro Fc to second on the log with 25 points after thrashing Masa 3-2 in the first match of the Sportpesa Super 8 Premier League ‘Super Sunday’ fixture played on Sunday 17 April at Nairobi City Stadium.
Masa’s Alpha Chris was flawless in converting from the spot kick at the half hour mark to take the slender lead into the breather.
After the break, the visiting Kayole side came back rejuvenated and they managed to restore parity when Paul Asuman found home with three minutes of play before his team mate Samuel Imbaya gave them the second goal nine minutes later to take command of the second half.
Masa’s took it upon themselves to rescue the situation but they were wasteful facing their opponent’s goal.
Taking note of their sluggish defense, Abdallah Asuman added the third and final for the Kayole outfit in the 68th minute to take the spoils.
Alpha Chris was on target again from the penalty spot in the final moments of the game to complete his brace but it was not enough to rescue the situation for the home side whose fans were left disappointed by the outcome which leaves them at 12th on the log with 12 points.
KIAMBIU YOUTH 1-0 BABADOGO UNITED
Peter Otiri scored the all-important goal as Kiambiu Youth collected three invaluable points by beating BabaDogo United 1-0 in the second match of the day at the same venue.
It was a balanced duel that should have produced more goals but both sides will rue a cluster of chances in the first half that ended goalless.
Upon resumption, Kiambiu vowed to give their cheering fans who came out in numbers, something to smile about when Peter Otiri slotted home in the 71st minute the valuable goal that catapults them two places above to sixth on the log with 21 points as Baba Dogo suffered their fifth loss in the league.
SHAURI MOYO BLUE STARS 1-0 MELTA KABIRIA
At the same venue, Shauri Moyo Blue Stars outclassed Melta Kabiria 1-0 in a thrilling tie that completed the much anticipated ‘Super Sunday’ fixture.
Blue Stars’s 30th minute goal scored by Papa Wemba was enough to gift them all the crucial three points at home.
West side team, Kabiria had an uphill task to break their opponents who were superb with their passes and composure from kick-off to the 90th minute.
