Children and the elderly who find themselves in police cells in Embakasi police station will no longer sleep in the cold after well wishers donated blankets and diapers.

A need, put out by the police department prompted Rotary club and Helping Hand organizations to come together to fill the gap.

Embakasi OCPD Francis Kamau confirmed that the elderly have been having a challenge sleeping in the cold cells.

He also confirmed that mothers who get arrested with their children  have a challenge keeping their children dry so the diapers will be of great help.

‘‘We want to thank them for helping these special groups and it is also true that we don’t have blankets for suspects whom we detain here and so we want to say that its’ a plus to our cells,’’ Kamau said.

Putting in mind that the campaigns have kicked off and election period is around the corner, the two organizations also conducted a sensitization program on how to maintain peace in the community and curb conflict between the police and citizens.

A sensitization forum conducted by Rotary club and helping hand organization brought together police officers from Embakasi police department and residents from Embakasi area.
