KDF and Police Officer dead after friendly shootout
A Police officer and a Kenya Defense officer have lost their lives following a friendly fire in an incident that has been termed mistaken identity.
According to a police report , police constable Emmanuel Ngao , Senior private David Mbugua, and Senior private Jeremy Malusi were involved in a shootout at around 2:15 am on Wednesday.
Police Constable Emmanuel Ngao was allegedly on his way back home after visiting a lady only identified as Rose in Bura East town. On his way home he ran into the two KDF officers who confronted him.
Ngao allegedly mistook the two officers to be militia and opened fire prompting the KDF officers to return fire.
The officers were rushed to Bura East Sub County hospital where the police constable and one KDF officer succumbed to their injuries.
The other officer is in critical condition awaiting evacuation from Garissa to Nairobi Memorial Hospital aboard a Y-12 KAF aircraft.
