Kenya 15s Simbas Receive Ksh. 10 Million Sponsorship

The Kenya 15s Simbas have received a boost of Ksh.10 Million sponsorship ahead of the Rugby Africa Cup which doubles up as the Rugby World Cup African qualifiers.

The donation was given through Teita Sisal Estate’s lodge of The Hildana Lodge. The event is set for  July 1st to July 12th 2022 in France.

Speaking at the sponsorship announcement, Collins Injera who was named as one of the backs of the squad for the RWC expressed his excitement of being able to play for the national team again.

“The last time I played for the Simbas was in 2015 and coming back and being able to get an opportunity to fight to go to the world cup is quite exciting as well. For all the teams I have been involved with, I think this is quite special and different,”said Injera.

Simbas Head Coach Paul Odera expressed his delight at announcement of the sponsorship saying, “ It’s truly humbling when people make a commitment to support the boys on this journey. When you support the Simbas you are supporting families, the young men and who they feed. You are also supporting Kenya because when you transform the game of rugby, you transform Kenya.”

The Simbas will be leaving the country at 1 am on Wednesday 29th as they begin their campaignswith a quarterfinal fixture against neighbouring Uganda at 4pm EAT on Saturday 2nd July.

The semifinals are st for the 6th of July with the final slated for 10th July.

The winnerof this tournament will earn direct qualification to the 2023 Rugby World Cup with the runners up proceeding to play in a repechage tournament.
