Kenya 7s Lionesses Head Coach Dennis Mwanja has named his 12 member squad that will be participating in the World Cup Sevens Challenger Series in Santiago, Chile from the 12th to 14th August.
Dennis Mwanja who took over from Felix Oloo says that his squad is ready to take on the challenge ahead of them after the long three months of preparation for the qualifiers.
Mwanja says that he has witnessed a lot of improvements despite the team having experienced a lot of rebuilding and transitioning.
“We had to pick pieces of the team and bring it together and I’m glad that I have seen a lot of positive improvements in the team from basics which were a problem and now there’s a better understanding of the game,” says Mwanja.
Mwanja is thrilled that the team has turned out to be a more united one and acknowledged that they still have a long way to go.
“The team has changed from one that a little scattered to a team that is more united, determined, focused and working with a purpose,” he says.
The team will be captained by Judith Auma who promised to give an amazing performance in Chille following the splendid job done by their coach.
“As we go to Chile our expectations are high. Coach has done his job so it is our turn to do our job and we are going to do it in Chile,” says Judith.
Some of the squad members are Stellah Wafula, Linet Moraa, Grace Okulu, Leah Wambui and Laurine Otieno who will be making a debut in the game.
