Kenya Edge Algeria To Reach Rugby Cup Final

Kenya 15s Rugby team Simba’s will square it out with Namibia in the final of the 2023 Rugby World Cup Africa qualifiers played at Stade Delort, Marseille in France Wednesday.

Kenya beat Algeria 36-33 in a tense match will play against African giants Namibia who eliminated Zimbabwe 34-19 in the second match of the day.

The winner will of the final will be played on Sunday will qualify for the Rugby Africa Cup 2022.

They will be placed in Pool A at RWC 2023 as Africa 1, alongside France, New Zealand, Italy and Uruguay. The runners-up will head into the Final Qualification Tournament.

Kenya came from behind twice to lead 21-14 at the interval.

Ranked 49 places behind Kenya the North Africans leveled things after the interval but a Eugene Sifuna unconverted try followed by Bryceson Adaka’s five-pointer saw Kenya shoot 31-26.

A penalty try saw Algeria make it a three-point game at 36-33 with less than 10 minutes Kenya held on to the lead till the end of the match.

The runners-up will head into the Final Qualification Tournament.
