Kenya is free from the Yellow Fever virus despite detecting symptoms of the virus in the country early last month from two people who had travelled from Angola.
Jackson Kioko, Acting Director of medical services at the health ministry says ,the health officials were able to identify and contain the two reported cases.
Kioko added that one of the patient dead due to organ failure but the other is under treatment.
He further explained that JKIA is under survey adding that they have set aside isolate room for any person with the virus symptoms.
The ministry had earlier indicated that ,travellers from Angola who are not Kenyan citizens and don’t have valid yellow fever vaccination certificates will be denied entry into the country.
Kenya is classified as a low risk country for yellow fever infection with the last outbreak having occurred in 1992.
