Team Kenya Men’s handball team is settling in their training camp at Buntwaani Waterpark in Malindi, poised to represent the nation with pride and determination at the highly anticipated Africa Beach Games, 23rd-30th June.

Coach Titus Kesekwa expressed confidence in the team’s preparations, emphasizing their readiness and gratitude for the support received from the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K).

Coach Kesekwa expressed his unwavering trust in the team, stating, “As the coach, I have full confidence in the abilities of our team.

When you look at our agility and speed, blocking shots, and communication, the team has really improved.

Each evening, we analyze Championships and our previous mistakes, I allow the players to point out mistakes and correct each other and lead from behind. I feel ready, and our main target this time is to reach the finals and bring glory back home to Kenya.”

Following a rigorous selection process after the Kenya Beach Games held earlier this year in Malindi, the current squad has been meticulously chosen to showcase Kenya’s handball prowess on the international stage.

Coach Kesekwa acknowledged the team’s focus on addressing their weaknesses, as they aim to capitalize on the valuable experience gained from their previous participation in the Africa Beach Games.

Formidable Opponents

Placed in Group A alongside formidable opponents Morocco and Zambia, the Men’s Handball Team is prepared for an intense battle.

The men’s event will feature a total of 11 games, with the action kicking off on Saturday, 24th June.

The opening match will see the 2019 bronze medalists Morocco go head-to-head with Kenya in a highly anticipated encounter.

The top three teams from each group, along with the best runner-up, will advance to the semifinals, scheduled for the late afternoon session on the same day.

The final day of action, Monday, 26th June, will witness the placement matches for the 7th/8th and 5th/6th positions in the early session, followed by the thrilling medal matches in the late afternoon.

The tournament will culminate with the highly anticipated final at 17:30hrs (local time).

The team is prepared to face not only the fierce competition but also the weather conditions. With temperatures expected to reach 30 degrees, the matches in Malindi, at a cooler 26 degrees, will offer more favorable conditions compared to the challenging climate experienced during the 2019 edition in Cape Verde.

Furthermore, an impressive 80 percent of the team members have prior experience playing in the league, providing them with a wealth of knowledge and skills.

This seasoned squad boasts a higher level of experience compared to 2019 when a significant portion of the team was newly formed.

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) and the entire nation rally behind the Men’s Handball Team as they embark on this remarkable journey.

We encourage all Kenyans to support and cheer for the team as they showcase their skills, determination, and national pride at the Africa Beach Games.
