Kenya Names Shujaa Squad For Rugby Africa Men’s 7s

The Kenya men’s national rugby sevens unveiled their squad for the Rugby Africa Men’s 7s that is set to be held this weekend in Kampala, Uganda.

The Head Coach, Innocent Simiyu named the squad and also introduced some players who would be making their debut in the coming games.

“We have retained eight players from the squad that featured at the just recently concluded World Rugby Sevens Series legs in Singapore and Vancouver respectively while also including experienced playmakers like Augustine Lugonzo, Alvin Otieno and Timothy Mmasi,” said Simiyu.

The Shujaa Africa 7s squad includes; Nelson Oyoo (Topfry Nakuru, Captain), Herman Humwa (Kenya Harleyquins), Billy Odhiambo (Mwamba), Bush Mwale (Homeboyz), Daniel Taabu (Mwamba), Augustine Lugonzo (Homeboyz), Tony Omondi (Mwamba), Edmund Anya (Impala Saracens), Kevin Wekesa (Kabras Sugar), Timothy Mwasi (Masinde Muliro), Alvin Otieno (KCB), Amon Wamalwa (Homeboyz, debut).

Dennis Mwanja, the Head Coach of the Kenya Women’s National Rugby Sevens also unveiled the squad that will take part in the Rugby Africa Women’s 7s in Tunis, Tunisia on 29th/30th April 2022.

The squad includes Janet Okello (MIE Pearls, Japan, Captain), Christabel Lindo (Impala Saracens), Grace Okulu (Topfry Nakuru), Linet Moraa (RuckIt), Stella Wafula (Impala Saracens), Leah Wambui (Impala Saracens), Judith Auma (Impala Saracens), Dorcas Sinaida (Northern Suburbs), Sophie Ayieta (Impala Saracen), Terry Ayesa (Mwamba), Naomi Amuguni (Mwamba), Jean Bisela (Impala Saracens)

The coach mentioned that with this squad, they were confident that they would stand a chance in reclaiming the crown they lost to South Africa in 2019.
