Kenya Sevens focus turns to Sydney after Wellington Sevens

ShujaaAfter Wellington Sevens in New Zealand the Kenya Sevens team now sets its focus on the World Rugby Series set for Sydney Australia this weekend.

Kenya is in Pool B for the fourth round of the 2015/16 HSBC Sevens Series, the Sydney Sevens taking place on 6/7 February in Sydney, Australia.

Shujaa has been pooled alongside South Africa, Scotland and Russia.
They start their fixtures with a match against Russia at 4.06am before taking on Scotland at 7.24am. They will wind up their pool fixtures against South Africa at 11.05am

Kenya moved up to eighth on the log after bowing out of the plate semi-final with a 14-35 loss to Argentina at the third round of this season’s series.

The team had earlier fallen to a 0-36 loss at the hands of hosts New Zealand in the cup quarterfinals.
Needing to win or draw against Australia and top the pool, Kenya found themselves trailing when Greg Jeloudev scored a converted try go 7-0 up but Oscar Ayodi’s set up Billy Odhiambo who scored with Biko Adema missing the conversion.
Odhiambo would turn provider, setting up Ayodi to score under the posts, Adema converting for a 12-7 score at the break.
Jeloudev tied the scores for the Aussies with a second half try before Sam Myers’ unconverted effort gave them the 17-12 result.
Earlier, Collins Injera and Billy Odhiambo played pivotal roles in steering Kenya to the cup quarter-finals at the second round of the HSBC Sevens World Series, the Wellington Sevens.
