Kenya Swimming Stakeholders To Hold Meeting With FINA In Nairobi

Kenya Swimming Federation stakeholders will have a meeting with FINA next week on Thursday, the 6th of October 2022 from 2.30 pm at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.

In a circular released by National Olympic Committee of the meeting will be held at Stadion Hotel on October 6 from 2:30 pm.

This follows a Stabilization Committee formed by the International Swimming Federation (FINA) Bureau in July after a meeting held to discuss the repeated failure of the Kenya Swimming Federation to comply with its decisions.

The meeting which will be addressed by FINA Representatives including the African President Mr. Sam Ramsamy is geared towards knowing what the world swimming governing body requires for Kenya to get back to normalcy as far as swimming is concerned as well as to be in good standing with international standards of the sport.

As it is Kenyan swimmers have been gracing events but not under the Kenyan flag and stakeholders would want this to change.

Kenya Swimming Federation has still not been able to hold elections, based on rules and regulations complying with the mandatory requirements as set by the FINA Bureau.

The Bureau has drawn specific reference to the Federation’s failure to properly respect the consequences of its current suspension.

This invitation also gives the stakeholders an opportunity to come up with suggestions and possible solutions on a way forward in advance.
