Kenya to play Olympic bound Argentina in friendly
The Kenyan Women Volleyball team – Malkia Strikers – landed in Buenos Aires Argentina on Tuesday 6:00am (Argentine time) from Miami for a one-week training camp ahead of the World Group Two Grand Prix to be hosted in the city of Tucuman Argentina.
The Kenyan team was well received and welcomed by the Argentine Volleyball Federation Officials and will be hosted at the national sports training center in Buenos Aires for four days before departing for Tucuman on 28th of May.
While in Buenos Aires the Kenyan team has been scheduled to play a friendly match against the Argentine Volleyball team that is also currently training for the World Grand Prix as well as the Olympic Games.
The Argentina women team qualified for the very first time to represent South America during this year’s Olympic Games to be hosted by Brazil.
The Kenyan team took a day off on Tuesday as the players recovered from the intense World Olympic Qualifiers held in San Juan in addition to the many hours of traveling from Puerto Rico to Miami (3hrs) and later to Buenos Aires (8 hours’ flight).
“We have been received well here in Buenos Aires by the Argentine Volleyball Federation officials and we hope to use this time to recover well and prepare adequately for the task ahead.” Said team manager Martin Kimondo.
The match will be played at 10:00am Argentina time that being 4:00PM Kenyan time.
