Kenya To spend FIFA Grant on Pitch Renovation
Kenya intends to spend apart of the grant offered by FIFA this year in developing and renovating pitches in the country.
Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa announced that 75 million shillings offered by FIFA for development will cater for turf and planting grass on the available pitches.
“Our project this year is to develop a pitch at the goal project and to renovate the accomodation that available”.
Kenya resumes the path of funding by FIFA after the World Governing Body conditionally lifted the embargo that was put against the country two months ado.
The embargo was put against the country for failure to account for the grant that was issued to the past administration in March last year.
“FIFA has now put Kenya on a compulsory audit for the next two years to ensure that the country comes out of the accountability threshold”.
“It has taken us rigorous work and being able to prove ourselves that we are accountable”,Nick added.
Meanwhile,Every member association and football development will now receive a grant of Ksh 125 million from FIFA every year for development projects.
