Kenya maintains status as top African nation at Athletics World Championships that concluded on Sunday.
Mary Moraa added one final gold to Kenya’s medal tally on the final night of action at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest to make sure her team finished as the best of the African teams in fifth place overall on the medal table.
Kenya bagged three gold, three silver, and four bronze medals as the World Athletics Championships came to an end.
Moraa handed Kenya the final gold medal in the 800m to make it three after Faith Kipyegon had won two gold medals early on.
She posted her personal best of 1:56.03 during the race with Hodgkinson being timed at 1:56.34. Mu clocked her season best of 1:56.61 to complete the podium.
During last year’s edition in Eugene, Oregon, Kenya finished behind Ethiopia in the African nations.
Ethiopia could only manage a sixth-place finish, behind Kenya.
Beatrice Chepkoech added silver in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase and Faith Cherotich won bronze.
