The nineteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships, were held from 19 to 27 August 2023 at the National Athletics Center, in Budapest, Hungary

It’s common for countries to tap new talents from different Countries including Kenya to outdo the country in the Athletics world.

A number of Kenyan-born athletes have switched nationalities .

Quite a number have moved to Bahrain, Turkey and USA .

The just concluded World athletics championships In Budapest , had a few notable Kenyans names who switched nationalities participating,with some winning big.

Winfrend Mutile Yavi

Born in Kenya and later moved to Bahrain, she specializes in 3000m steeplechase

The 23-year-old former Kenyan, won a gold medal for Bahrain in the steeplechase final last night in Budapest ,

She beat Kenya’s Beatrice Chepkoech, the 2019 world champion.

She became eligible to compete for her adopted country in  2016.

 Paul chelimo

He is a Kenyan born American track and field athlete,

At the Rio 2016 Olympics, Paul Chelimo became the first U.S. athlete since 1964 to medal in the 5000 meters when he took silver behind Great Britain’s Mo Farah in a then-personal best time of 13:03.90

He attained his U.S. citizenship in 2014 by joining the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program, training while serving as a water treatment specialist.

He finished 15 for the US in the 5000final

Lonah Chemtai Salpeter

She immigrated to Israel in 2008, it is there that she met running coach Dan Salpeter and the two fell in love.

Chemtai attained Israeli citizenship in March 2016 on account of marriage to an Israeli citizen

She won bronze at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, USA.

She finished fourth in Women’s marathon In Budapest
