Kenyan Gospel Music Industry Run By Cartels
“The local Gospel music industry is run by cartels,” once Gospel now secular Dj, Dj Katta has revealed.
“There are specific cartels that run everything, you don’t align with them, no one listens to you. Your music is less played or not played at all,” Katta who is currently a secular DJ at Ghetto Radio narrated to Ghetto Radio’s entertainment news reporter Mukami Kanyi.
“Look at me, I started Deejaying way back in 2010 when in form 3, have met Konshens and major Jamaican artistes before Ghetto Radio discovered me in 2010,” he continues.
According to Katta, he joined the Gospel Industry as Bahati’s main Dj in 2014 where he won a “Gifted Dj” award.
“But look……at the end of it all i ended going back to secular music,” he narrates.
“The thing is Mukami, the Gospel industry is one full of hypocrisy and jealousy. These guys do not support each other.” Dj Katta revealed.
Katta says despite being in the secular field, he has found some fulfillment that did not exist in the gospel field.
“As a matter of fact Mukami, am about to drop a club banger,” he concludes.
