A section of Kenyans have expressed fury over the government’s sponsorship of 20 parliamenterians to Russia to watch the World Cup.
The trip of 16 Members of the National Assembly and the 4 Senators will allegedly cost the tax payers between 30 to 45 million shillings.
Kenyans from across the country have reacted angrily over the issue terming it as a waste of taxpayers money.
Some of the MPs who traveled to Russia include; Siaya Senator James Orengo, Nyali MP Mohamed Ali, Nominated Senator James Orengo, Kakamega Senator Cleopa Malala, nominated MP Millicent Omnga among others.
Here are some of the views from Kenyans;
People who’ve never watched a local football match, suddenly love the game. This Kenya is sickening!
Kenya: around 20 parliamentarians have travelled to the World Cup. @TheStarKenya has established 14 members of National Assembly & 6 senators are in Russia at expense of the govt- parliament say its to give MPs experience on hosting tournaments:
Ksh100M tax payers money used to cater for 20 Kenyan MPs who are in Russia to study how football is played. Do they know how many stadiums are in Kenya? Do they when was the last time Kenya qualified @FIFAWorldCup? Shame on you.
It is only in Kenya where the taxpayers money is used to facilitate 20 MPS in world cup fiesta-Russia. Unfortunately they cannot even attend a local football function to embrace local talent but are busy flaunting their pictures in Russia. Somehow we have been misled #Big4Inaweza
I think that the next world cup kenya will participate. We now have a team of MCAs, MPs and Governors who went to Rusia to acquire football skills. Bad news for the Harrambe stars
