A number of residents are stranded at the Makadara Law Courts following an ICT failure that has persisted for about three days now.
Many accused persons are still being held by police officers due to this system failure despite paying their cash bails.
Samuel Gathanga from Ruaraka Social Justice Network says that his comrade Max Odhiambo and five other people who had been arraigned in court still being held in police custody due to the system failure.
“The process has been delayed by the Judiciary system. we bailed our comrades and all the amount was paid in due time, so today we came here to give solidarity to our comrades and up to now we are still waiting for the system, since morning we have been here, we were here up to 5.30,”
Max and the other four had been charged with obstruction of justice, a charge that Gathanga claims are trumped up.
According to Gathanga, the six people were protesting police harassment of residents who had not worn masks.
