The government has urged all Kenyans to make sure they register their information so as to acquire the new digital identity cards.
According to principal secretary treasury Kamau Thunge ”the government is registering Kenyans a fresh to provide them with digital identity cards containing all their information to ensure better delivery of government services and to boost the national security as all the information of the citizens will be captured in a central database avoiding impersonation.”
The registration process will run for 30 days in 25 counties which will be the pilot face of the registration process.
Mr Kamau further said that ”those who fail to register will not be able to access government services and those who give false information are the risk of being persecuted in accordance to the penal code”
The registration will happen at mobile registration centers and also in learning institutions.
