President Uhuru Kenyatta has received the body of the late retired president Mwai Kibaki at the Nyayo National Stadium for the State Funeral.
Before arrival at the Nyayo National Stadium, Kibaki’s body was first received at State House by Uhuru and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and the family of the departed.
An elaborate military ceremony led by the Chief of Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi was then held at State House.
A solemn procession of Kibaki’s funeral cortege then marched through several Nairobi roads on its way to Nyayo National Stadium.
Meanwhile several Kenyans from all walks of life have thronged the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi City County for the State Funeral Service.
Kibaki will later be buried tomorrow in his home in Othaya Nyeri County.
The third president of the Republic of Kenya passed away on Friday last week aged 90 years.
