Kibera residents given eviction notice

Kibera and Lang’ata  residents living along areas marked as Road and Railway reserves have been issued with an 11 day notice to vacate the areas.

National Building Inspectorate Secretary Moses Nyakiongora has warned that failure to do so will lead to forceful evictions by the government.

Some of the areas marked for demolitions include Ngong Road, Kung’u Karumba and Lang’ata Road.

There has been a court battle between the Kibera slum dwellers and the government over the construction of the road after the slum dwellers moved to court to challenge the evictions.

Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth has called on the government to ensure the affected residents are duly compensated following the eviction.
